Purpose As stated in the United Nations Global Assessment Report 2022 Concept Note, decision-makers everywhere need data and statistics that are accurate, timely, sufficiently disaggregated, relevant, accessible easy to use. The purpose of this paper is demonstrate scalable replicable methods advance integrate use earth observation (EO), specifically ongoing efforts within Group on Earth Observations (GEO) Work Programme Committee Observation Satellites (CEOS) Plan, support risk-informed decision-making, based documented national subnational needs requirements. Design/methodology/approach Promotion open sharing geospatial technology solutions at scales encourages accelerated implementation successful EO applications. These may also be linked specific Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) 2015–2030 Targets provide trusted answers risk-oriented decision frameworks, as well critical synergies between 2030 Agenda Sustainable Development. This provides examples these form platforms knowledge hubs leverage latest developments analysis ready evidence-based DRR measures. Findings climate crisis forcing countries face unprecedented frequency severity disasters. At same time, there growing demands respond policy international level. EOs offer insights intelligence development decision-making key aspects Framework. GEO Working CEOS Disasters ideally placed help government agencies, particularly focal points learn more about understand their role supporting DRR.
